Retired PGA Tour golfer Wagner, 44, was trying to recreate the shot late at night and sent his effort flying across the green in a viral social media clip.

It was then that DeChambeau appeared with the trophy in hand and explained the approach.

“This is for the US Open,” Bryson said as he stepped back to make room for Wagner.

His effort ended even closer to the pin than the one that won DeChambeau the Open.

And the champion handed over his trophy to Wagner to pose with.

“I don’t think I’ll ever win the US Open now that I’ve played in it,” Wagner joked.

“Perfect. You just needed me around,” DeChambeau said. “You did it better than I did.”

“Player B is always better than player A,” Wagner responded.

The Segment ended with Wagner, who praised DeChambeau throughout, asking him for a drink and the winner accepting.

“Bryson is such a cool guy, dude just won the US Open and is here on live TV,” commented one fan.

“What a player. 30 centimeters from the cup, that memory will be with him forever. How incredible,” added another.

“This is the best golf content I’ve seen in over 14 years of watching your stuff,” posted a third.

“It was fantastic to watch,” said a fourth.

DeChambeau has won over many fans with his approach in recent months.

And the LIV star was gracious about the victory as he expressed his sympathy for McIlroy, who was on his way to victory before missing two putts.

Who are the most famous Wags in golf?

The world’s best golfers enjoy an incredible lifestyle – and their Wags lead their own exciting lives.

Here are some of the best known beauties…

  • Playing with a handicap of three, this sports reporter could give his friend a chance to make money on the greens.
  • That discreet beauty married a superstar golfer in front of Stevie Wonder, Chris Martin and Niall Horan.
  • A former gymnast who has been her husband’s rock for 14 years – he even pays homage to her on his golf balls.

“For him to miss that shot [on 18]I would never wish that on anyone,” said the American after winning by one stroke.

“I think the fire in him is only going to continue to grow. He will win more major championships.

“I have nothing but respect for the way he plays golf because, to be honest, when he was coming up the leaderboard, he was two ahead, I thought, ‘uh-oh, uh-oh.’ I followed my path.”

Sir Nick Faldo believes McIlroy may never recover.

“That’s going to haunt Rory for the rest of his life, those two mistakes,” he told Sky Sports.
