The debate between the presidential candidates was relatively mild for most of the night, but things heated up when golf came up.

Donald Trump was discussing his physical condition and mentioned the fact that he “won two club championships – not even seniors – two regular club championships.”

“To do that, you have to be very smart and be able to hit the ball from far away, and I do that,” Trump said.

“He doesn’t do that. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a game of golf – he can’t hit a ball 50 yards.”

Joe Biden quickly countered the sentiment, saying he lowered his handicap to six.

Trump ended the statement, not believing Biden’s claims.

“That’s the biggest lie – that he has a six handicap – of all,” Trump said.

The two talked about golf while the mediators tried to control the situation.

Biden then challenged Trump to a driving competition and said he would play golf with him on one condition.

“Look, I would be happy to do a driving competition with him,” Biden said.

“And by the way, I told you, I’m happy to play golf if you carry your own bag. Think you can do it?”

The back and forth went viral on social media, and Bryson DeChambeau was quick to notice.

He extended an invitation to host the directing competition between the two candidates.

“Let’s settle this whole handicap debate, I’m going to host the golf match on my YouTube,” DeChambeau wrote on X.

Fans loved the contest idea and shared their ideas on social media.
