Woods has suffered injuries over the past decade and has looked a shadow of the player widely considered golf’s GOAT.

The 48-year-old missed the cut at the PGA Championship in May and admitted he needed to make improvements to his overall game.

But golf great Colin Montgomerie thinks it’s time for Woods to put down his clubs once and for all, as he is a shell of your former self.

The Scotsman said The times: “Aren’t we there? I would have thought we had already been there.

“There is a time for all sportspeople to say goodbye, but it is very difficult to tell Tiger that it is time to go.

“Obviously, he still feels like he can win. We are more realistic.”

Montgomerie believes Woods’ performances of late are tarnishing his legacy and the impact he has had on the sport.

The 61-year-old added: “These guys only know Tiger Woods missing the cut and he’s better than that, the best we’ve ever seen.”

Stephen A. Smith tells Tiger Woods he’s ‘done’ in First Take speech despite golf legend breaking another Masters record

“There is none of that now. At Pinehurst, he didn’t seem to like a single drink and you think, ‘What the hell is he doing?’

“He’s coming to Troon and he won’t like it there either.”

Woods is aware of calls for him to pull back the curtain on his illustrious career, but is convinced he can recapture some of his past glory.

He recently said of his prolonged slump in form: “[I’ll] just keep fighting.

“Keep the pedal on, keep fighting, keep working hard to get the best score possible.

“That’s all I can do. It’s going to be a lot [of work]but I will fight until the end.”
