Golf legend Colin, 61, is the best-known member of the lineage, captaining Europe to Ryder Cup glory in 2010 and reaching second place in the world rankings.
But the Montgomerie surname is not just famous for making golf history.
This is because Colin revealed the The times that his grandfather helped invent Penguin cookies and blue ribbons.
The beloved duo has been consumed across the country for decades.
Penguin biscuits were invented by William Macdonald and Sons in Glasgow in 1928.
With Blue Ribands was released eight years later in Scotland by a company called Gray Dunn.
Colin’s father, James, continued the legacy and also worked in the confectionery industry.
He was manager of the iconic Fox’s brand in Leeds during the 1960s.
And it led to the Montgomerie family moving south of the border, with their father’s job accompanied by the added incentive of season tickets at Elland Road.

Monty is now a die-hard Leeds United fan and Yorkshire is where he started playing golf at a club in Ilkley.
