Lawrence’s Gifts Lead to Schauffele

And that’s how quickly everything can change!

Thriston Lawrence draws gasps from the crowd around the 12th green when he fails to find the hole from 13 feet.

It’s the first bogey of the day for the South African and means he overtakes first place.

Xander Schauffele is the fourth absolute leader of the day. Can he do what Billy Horschel, Justin Rose and Lawrence were unable to do and maintain it?

Xantastic! Schauffele joins Lawrence at the top

Is it difficult to find birds in the back nine? Not if you’re Xander Schauffele!

The PGA champion follows up an exquisite drive to the green with a cool-as-you-like-it putt from 16 feet.

Playing partner Justin Rose tries to follow him for birdie, only to end up looking in disbelief when a second hole in a row fails to fall.

Rose remains at five under, but Schauffele joins Thriston Lawrence at seven under at the top of the leaderboard.

Pink anguish on the 12th

Justin Rose is so, so close to hitting another memorable shot…

…but instead it’s disappointment and a missed shot.

After an approach leaves him in trouble, Rose is left with a complex 20-foot shot onto the green just to make par.

It shouldn’t be possible, but the Englishman has made a career out of defying the odds in these moments.

The crowd around the green falls silent and then roars the ball as it rolls up, up and up towards the hole before clipping the edge and rocketing to the right.

Rose drops to five under.

Rahm finishes with 68

It was a Sunday that promised a lot for Jon Rahm, but even the powerful Spaniard was unable to overcome the difficulties of the last nine.

The two-time major winner exploded out of the traps with a front 32 that included four birdies, only to see his Rahm page slow after a bogey on 11.

From there, the 29-year-old clawed his way to completion, finishing with an admirable round of 68 following scores of 73, 70 and 72 this week.

Xander requests re-Schauffele at the top

Justin Rose has company at No. 2 with the rise of Xander Schauffele.

The PGA champion has his sights set on another major after a wonderful second shot at 11 set him up for his third birdie of the day.

Rolling on two feet, Schauffele is now six under along with Rose, a shot behind Thriston Lawrence.
