THE Yankees announced the acquisition of minor league outfielder Cam Eden from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.
Eden appeared in 91 games at Triple-A this season, with 10 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 35 RBI. He slashed .198/.299/.322 for a .620 OPS and .287 weighted average.
In 222 games at Triple-A this year and last, Eden has a .232 average and a .668 OPS.
He has 26 stolen bases in 33 attempts this year and has stolen 153 bags with an 88.4% success rate in 420 career minor league games. And this could be Eden’s path to the Yanks as a postseason option on the basepaths.
The 26-year-old can play all three outfield positions, with most of his time in center field during the last two seasons at Triple-A Buffalo.
Eden made his MLB debut in 2023, appearing in five games with the Blue Jays, collecting one hit in six at-bats and two strikeouts.
Although the MLB trade deadline was July 30, players who signed a minor league contract, were not on the 40-man roster at any point this season, and were not on the MLB injured list could still be traded.
