Mets ‘flush’ Mariners sweep as major homeland looms

“At the end of the day, they outperformed us,” Francisco Lindor said of the Mariners. “They played better defense. They ran the bases better. They hit better than us. They outplayed us. Our pitching staff pitched really well, but overall, they played better baseball than we did.

“So we knew coming into this trip it was going to be tough. We knew we were going to have a lot of games. We’re going to face, in the end, a really good team that was playing really good baseball.

“It’s tough. We didn’t even score the first few days and today we only scored one run. It’s hard to win games like this when you don’t give the pitching staff runs.”
