For a long time in baseball, we’ve had some of the most detailed pitching metrics thanks to Major League Baseball’s Statcast technology, but now we have access to a little more detailed information about how hitters swing and make contact thanks to newly released data. and updated technology in stadiums.
Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss and explain what these new metrics are and how they will be useful to teams, writers, and even fans when evaluating players. With the use of bat speed, swing length, quadratic rate, sweet spot percentage, and burst rate, you will now be able to tell if certain hitters are struggling with injury, if they are changing their approach depending on the count, or if a team has a globally developed batting philosophy, just to name a few, because of these statistics.
