Hal Steinbrenner, the big boss himself, Mr. Owner, joined the network of the podcast world.

Uh, I believe yesterday on Thursday and I was asked about Juan Soto.

He is very good Juan Soto, who will be too?

I would also ask him about Juan Soto, SOTO is obviously a free agent at the end of the year, the Yankees acquired him over the winter for a bunch of prospects.

Everything went so, so, so well in New York, the kind of situation where you just have to do everything you can to keep it in Pinstripes for as long as possible.

Here’s what Hal said.

I don’t think there’s any doubt about keeping it forever.

His agent, Scott Boris, doesn’t say Boris, but it’s Scott Boris who doesn’t normally make deals in the middle of a season.

Me neither.

Which is true.

Remember Aaron Judge’s free agency, blah, blah, blah.

I think it can be a distraction, which is also funny because everything about being on the Yankees is a distraction.

The whole thing is a distraction.

But as I said in spring training when I met with the media, this is a unique situation and a unique player.

So I wouldn’t be shocked if there were a conversation or two during the season.

I think it’s worth doing this at some point.

I would agree.

Uh, I wanted to give Juan time to really settle in.

Make sure that obviously the most important thing is, is this a place where he can see himself for a long time?

So, I imagine that’s a big yes, in terms of cultural fit in terms of how things have been going.

This is obvious.

I would be shocked and appalled if any extension was made before the end of the year.

And that’s simply because when winter comes Steve Cohen will enter the fray, the Mets owner will raise the price of whatever Juan Soto can get now from the Yankees.

He’ll likely get that and more from the Yankees or Mets in the winter.

So I would be fair or the Dodgers.

However, Soto asked about it after the Yankees beat the Twins for the 85th straight time on Thursday.

And this is my favorite part.

Soto talks, quotes, they know the phone number and everything, they know where to call me right here.

I’m focusing on playing baseball.

My goal is to try to help the team win.

Of course yes, Juan I love it.

Whenever a player tries to help the team win.

I kind of just want to hit him in the head, like, duh.

As if that were the point.

Whatever it is.
