Joey Wendle is hosted in the NL East.

A few days after being assigned to the mission and officially released by Metsthe veteran infielder has joined the Atlanta Braves on a major league deal.

Wendle originally signed with New York this offseason with hopes he would bring some speed, defensive versatility and a veteran bat off the bench.

The 34-year-old struggled mightily on both sides of the ball, making several physical and mental errors in the opening weeks of the season.

With the team in need of a boost on offense, the Mets decided to part ways and bring up the hitting prospect Marcos Vientoswho quickly took over as third baseman.

Wendle officially hit the open market this week and is now back in the division with the second-place Braves.

He is now the third deep infielder to leave New York for their division rivals in the first few months of this season, joining the likes of Luis Guillorme It is Zack Short.
