Mets first baseman Pedro Alonso left Wednesday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the bottom of the first after being hit by a right-handed pitch from James Paxton.

Alonso fell after being hit by a 150 km/h fastball and, after running down the first baseline, quickly left the game alongside the coaches.

Manager Carlos Mendoza revealed after the game that the x-rays were clear, but that the results of a CT scan that Alonso had will not be available until Thursday.

Brett Baty entered the game to run for him and play third base, pushing Marcos Vientos for the first.

Mendoza said he is confident Vientos can take over the day-to-day duties of first base if Alonso misses significant time.

“I feel good [having him play first base],” Mendoza said of Vientos. “He’s played there before, he’s had reps and I feel comfortable if we need him. We have to wait for Pete first.”

So far this season, Alonso is slashing .231/.308/.761 with 12 home runs and 26 RBI.
