Snell was sidelined from the Giants-Yankees game due to an adductor injury originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area
Blake Snell’s game in the Giants’ 7-5 loss to the New York Yankees on Sunday at Oracle Park came to an abrupt end.
With San Francisco leading New York 3-1 in the top of the fifth inning, Snell appeared to get hurt on a 1-0 pitch to Alex Verdugo with the bases loaded and two outs.
Snell departed and walked off the field with senior director of athletic training Dave Groeschner.
The Giants later announced that Snell left the game with a left groin injury. After Sunday’s loss, manager Bob Melvin revealed that he would be surprised if Snell didn’t go to the IL, but will await confirmation after the star left-hander undergoes an MRI on Monday.
Snell was having perhaps his best performance of the season before the injury, and was charged two additional deserved runs after left-handed pitcher Erik Miller relieved him and surrendered a two-run double to Alex Verdugo, tying the game at three.
