Christopher Morel leaves Crosstown game with foot injury originally appeared in NBC Sports Chicago

Puppies utilityman Christopher Morel left Wednesday’s Cubs-White Sox Crosstown Classic game after injuring his foot during a seventh-inning at-bat.

In a battle against Jared Shuster, Morel hit a ball with his foot, narrowing his shin/foot protection which lost protection for the top of his foot. Morel recovered from the injury and earned a walk in full count.

But after trying to walk to first base, Craig Counsell emerged from the dugout and immediately knocked him out of the game. Patrick Wisdom replaced Morel.

The Cubs are also without Nico Hoerner, who was ejected early in the game.

Morel left the game with one hit and one run. Against the White Sox on Tuesday, Morel earned two RBIs on two hits and a home run. He also scored two runs.
