O Mets had a big day at the plate, taking an early 7-0 lead and pulling ahead late by defeating the Braves 16-4, winning two of three games in Atlanta.

– The Mets jumped on the Braves starter Allan Winansscoring him for seven runs in the first four innings.

Quintana doubled a bit in the fifth, giving up a two-run double to the No. 9 hitter Chadwick Trumpand breaking out a wild pitch to allow another run to score as Atlanta cut the deficit to 7-3.
He left with one out and one on in the sixth, with Drew Smith cleaning things up to escape the inning.
Quintana went 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out four. His ERA is now 3.45.
– After the Braves cut the Mets’ lead to four runs, New York struck out three runs in the seventh, getting an RBI from Alvarez and a two-run single. Jeff McNeilwho has hit safely in four consecutive games and appears to be out of his offensive malaise.
New York added two more runs in the eighth courtesy of a Brandon Nimmo RBI triple and a scoring wild pitch as their lead grew to 12-3.
– Baty has reached base safely in 11 consecutive games.
– Pedro Alonsowhose bat is waking up after a rough start to the trip, had two singles and a walk.
– Francisco Lindorwho entered the game still mired in a very difficult early-season slump, hit a single to right field in the fourth.
– Left-handed reliever Tyler Jay, who joined the Mets’ bullpen before Thursday’s game, made his major league debut and pitched the final two innings. Jay, the sixth overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, has taken a circuitous path to the majors, with a recent two-year stop in the independent Frontier League.
— Things came full circle in the ninth inning when former Met. Luis Guillorme hit the nail on the head to face his old club. Guillorme was treated rudely, with Tyron Taylor beating a grand slam.
