What potential Giants target Soto could get in free agency originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area

With superstar Juan Soto hitting the free agent market this winter, many MLB insiders anticipate a big payday for whoever ends up signing him.

This could include the Giants, and exclusively ESPN article, 28 MLB insiders shared their thoughts on what kind of contract Soto will command and where he could land when the outfielder hits free agency for the first time in his career.

Given that a player of Soto’s stature rarely hits the free agent market, insiders anticipate he will receive something close to a 12-year contract worth $482.5 million. The Giants have been mentioned as one of several franchises in the market for Soto’s services, marking the third year in a row that San Francisco will pursue a big-name free agent.

After unsuccessful attempts to signing Aaron Judge It is Shohei Ohtani, the Giants will finally try to land a game-changing superstar player. However, the task will not be easy considering that Soto is currently experiencing one of his best seasons as a member of the New York Yankees, who are the pioneers in keeping it this winter.

The allure (and deep pockets) of MLB’s most famous franchise may be too much for Soto to pass up, as all indications point to the slugger being happy with his current team. In addition to the Yankees and Giants, the Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Nationals and New York Mets are expected to enter the bidding war to sign Soto.

Given the record-breaking free agent deals in recent years, it wouldn’t be surprising if Soto’s contract broke records. Soto is one of the league’s biggest hitters, has just entered his prime and is backed by super-agent Scott Boras, who has a magic touch when it comes to negotiating rich contracts.

The Giants have wanted to sign a big-name player for some time, and their inability to sign Ohtani and Judge in recent years will undoubtedly be a huge boost in signing Soto.
