After Yankees scratched hitter Juan Soto from Saturday’s lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays with what the team calls a right hand contusion, the team announced that x-rays were negative.
So on Sunday, Soto told MLB.com’s Brian Hoch that he may have a CT or MRI scan on Monday, although he said his right hand was feeling better.
Soto was not in the original lineup for Sunday’s matchup with the Jays, but was added just minutes before the first pitch, playing right field and batting second.
Manager Aaron Boone said Soto’s hand swelled and he felt uncomfortable swinging the bat Saturday. The injury occurred when Soto entered the house on a degraded play in Friday’s game.
Soto has been an essential part of the 2024 Yankees.
The 25-year-old is slashing .302/.434/1.004 with 20 home runs and 60 RBI. He was the catalyst for the Yankees’ 16-5 victory on Friday, when his three-run home run put New York in the lead for good. The victory ended the Yankees’ four-game losing streak.
