Mets central defender Harrison Bader left Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Nationals in the bottom of the fourth inning after hitting the outfield fence.
The Mets announced that Bader left the game “for precautionary reasons.” The club did not announce any specific injuries.
With no one down in the bottom half of the third, Bader moved back to right-center field, tracking a ball from Jacob Young’His bat hit the wire fence covering the right-center field scoreboard.
He was down for a moment, wasn’t looked at by the coaches and remained in the game until the end of the third.
Tyron Taylor moved from right field to center field, Jeff McNeil shifted from left to right and Brandon Nimmo – who missed Monday’s game after fainting in the early hours of the day in his hotel room and said he was available off the bench for Tuesday night – entered the game to play left field.
The Mets were already working with a short bench after DH JD Martinez it was a late scratch due to pain in the left ankle.
