O Yankees collector placed José Trevino on 10-day injured list Saturday morning with left quadriceps strain and catcher recalled Carlos Narvaez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Trevino left Friday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles after hitting a double and scoring in the top of the ninth, as Austin Wells came in to catch the last half of the game.
After the 4-1 victoryYankees coach Aaron Boone said he believes the injury happened on the slide home.
The backstop was having a strong night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Over 60 games this season, Trevino is hitting .244 with four doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI.
Narvaez, 25, will make his MLB debut when he finally takes the field for the Yanks. The catcher was hitting .269 at Triple-A with 17 doubles, nine homers, 47 RBI and 45 walks in 71 games.
