An All-Star break tradition, here are my 2025 player rankings, mostly for fun. I’ve done my best to list players where they will be eligible for 20 games next year, and future free agents are listed without teams. Players with contract options for next year have an asterisk included in their team names.

Top 300 Overall Rankings of Early 2025

I’m going with Bobby Witt Jr. first overall for now, although I’m far from set on that. Shohei Ohtani has been my No. 1 player for the rest of 2024 for a few months now, but I don’t trust him as much offensively with his planned return to the mound. I would probably support Aaron Judge over Witt if Juan Soto was re-signed. Gunnar Henderson was also in contention, but I have a lot more faith in Witt when it comes to steals. Henderson has been excellent by shooting 14 of 15 this season, but I think his volume is more likely to decrease than increase going forward.

One of those four White Sox is Eloy Jiménez, whose option will likely be declined. They could also trade Garrett Crochet and/or Luis Robert Jr. The other guy on the list is Andrew Vaughn at #244.
Meanwhile, the Phillies fielded all nine starters, four starting pitchers and a reliever in José Alvarado. Orion Kerkering also came close; he should be more of a defense prospect next year if Jeff Hoffman leaves as a free agent.

The A’s hitters here are getting a boost with the expected move to Sacramento next year, as it will be a major upgrade for the bats. Brent Rooker, however, wasn’t really included in this as there’s a good chance he could be on the move before the trade deadline or during the winter. Still, players like Lawrence Butler, JJ Bleday, and Tyler Soderstrom have cracked the top 300 overall and likely wouldn’t have done so otherwise.
