Mets potential client Drew Gilberto returned to the Syracuse Mets lineup for the first time since April on Tuesday night and got a hit in the team’s 7-6 loss to Buffalo.
Gilbert finished 1-for-5, his only hit against the former MLB starter Aaron Sanchez in the third inning. But after missing so much time with a hamstring injury, the Mets are happy to have one of their top prospects back in Triple-A.
In seven games with Syracuse this season, Gilbert is now 6-for-25 with one home run, two RBI and two walks.
Before his return to Syracuse, Gilbert reported to the team’s Florida Complex for a few games. In six games with Low-A and High-A, Gilbert went 1-for-15 with an RBI and two runs.
Gilberto, the Mets third prospect According to SNY’s Joe DeMayo, slashed .289/.381/.487 in 116 games with 18 home runs, 26 doubles, 12 stolen bases, 79 runs scored and 59 RBI across two minor league levels last season for the Houston Astros and Mets.
Brett Baty continued his torrid run with Syracuse, going 4-for-5 with two home runs. In 35 games at Triple-A this season, Baty is hitting .289 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI.
Luisangel Acuna went hitless (0-5) with three strikeouts and is now hitting .263.
