Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: A little bit of everything for every lineup in our latest pickups

Surely we can all agree that the best way to start the weekend is to beef up your fantasy baseball roster a little.

For those of you who can’t stand looking at the same old poor performers day after day, here’s a new batch of underperforming futures revitalizing pickups to consider…

First off, the Rockies are entering a nine-game homestand at Coors Field, so it’s a good time to test these hitters. Doyle has been serviceable since Opening Day, hitting .286 in his first 70 at-bats with three home runs and a steal. He produced a 15/23 season in terms of power and velocity last year while splitting his time between Triple-A and the majors. In 2022, Doyle delivered a 20/20 campaign in the minors, so he offers a fantasy-friendly profile.

Bouchard was Just got recalled by Colorado on Wednesday, when Kris Bryant hit the IL. The 27-year-old has hit .304/.434/.557 in the majors in 145 career appearances, so no one should be surprised if he’s immediately productive. Like Doyle, Bouchard demonstrated 20/20 skills in the minors, along with skill at the plate. With a full week of games ahead in the best hitting environment in the game, he can certainly help.

This will simply serve as a weekly reminder that Loperfido has been dropping bombs at Triple-A, destroying almost everything, while José Abreu is struggling as much as any player in the big leagues (0.078 AVG). Loperfido hit 10 home runs in 16 games, drove in 24 runs and produced a 1.194 OPS. It’s kind of strange that he hasn’t woken up yet, but that will happen at some point, maybe soon. He’s a priority stock if you have bench seats (or an unused NA slot) and need a power boost.

After back-to-back multi-hit games this week, Arcia raised his average to .377, the best in the league. He is now also hitting in the middle third of Atlanta’s lineup, which gives him an easier path to managing production. His base-stealing days are probably behind him, but he launched 17 home runs last year, so he’s an asset in several categories. If you are involved in a deep league where MI spots need to be filled, Arcia belongs on someone’s roster. He’s a free part of a ridiculously loaded lineup.

Weathers is coming off a six-inning, five-hit, 10-K start against the Giants, earning his second straight win and the first double-digit strikeout total of his MLB career. The 24-year-old lefty is a former first-round pick who has made gains in velocity since making his major league debut in 2021. Command has been an issue in years past, but it certainly wasn’t an issue on Tuesday when he walked just one batter and threw 62 of his 90 pitches for strikes. Weathers is set to make his next turn at Wrigley Field on Sunday and is fully approved for streaming.

McArthur enters a weekend home series against the Orioles having saved four games on the season — and collecting a dozen Ks to his credit — in 9.2 innings. He’s your Kansas City closer and the man’s things will touch. Let’s remember that McArthur had four saves in the final month of last season and posted a stellar WHIP (0.94) in 23.1 innings. It’s amazing that he remains single in all but one of Yahoo’s two leagues, but there he is. If you have bullpen needs, he can definitely help address them. And this last guy can also…

Yates has surpassed the 50% roster limit since this article was written, but the addition should be made wherever he is still available. José Leclerc has fought his way out of the ninth inning to the Rangers, while Yates clearly entered Bruce Bochy’s circle of trust. In each of his last four starts, he recorded the final outs for Texas, earning one win and two saves. He has yet to allow an earned run this season and has struck out 10 batters in 8.2 innings. Yates recorded four strikeouts in consecutive games this week on Wednesday and Thursday, which is an old-school firefighter usage.

We’ll remember that Yates has a 41-save season under his belt, so his finishing credentials are well established. This is a relief pitch, good enough to help fantasy managers regardless of his role, and he was recently elevated to cash.
