RUSS DORSEY: What’s going on, guys. Yahoo Sports MLB National Insider Russ Dorsey is here with you. And it’s time for the best thing I’ve seen this week.
For the best thing I saw this week, let’s go to Philadelphia, where we meet Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen, who hit his 300th career home run in a 9-2 victory over the Phillies. Now, he has become the 160th player in big league history to hit 300 career home runs. It was also his 216th career home run with the Pittsburgh Pirates, placing him fourth in franchise history behind Hall of Famers Willie Stargell, Ralph Kiner and Roberto Clemente.
Now, McCutchen’s career probably won’t end with him in Cooperstown, but he has a career worth noting. 300 home runs, over 2,000 hits in the big leagues, an NL MVP award, four top-five NL MVP awards and will go down as one of the best outfielders in Pirates history.
