Before the Yankees’ game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon, manager Aaron Boone gave some updates on first baseman injuries Anthony RizzoHR Ian Hamiltonand field player Jon Berti.
Rizzo, who suffered a broken arm in a collision against the Red Sox on June 16, has been swinging the baton lightly, but “still has a long way to go”, according to Boone.
He was seen doing conditioning exercises on the field at the end of July, and began participating in field training on Friday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network observed. O The original timeline for Rizzo’s injury was four to six weeks.
Rizzo had struggled for more than 70 games this season, batting just .223 with eight home runs, seven doubles and 28 RBI. He was placed on 60-day IL on June 19.
Boone went on to say that Hamilton is scheduled to throw a “high-intensity” bullpen next week on August 6th. said earlier in the week on July 31 that Hamilton will face live hitters once he continues working his way back to the mound.
Hamilton came away with a last strain and hasn’t released since June 6th. He owns an ERA of 4.55 and a WHIP of 1.584 27 matches this season.
Lastly, Boone said Berti (calf) is running at about 80 percent after receiving a PRP injection on July 20. The veteran last played on May 24 and received the injection after suffering a setback during his rehabilitation. In just 17 games this year, Berti is 15-for-55 (.273) with one home run and six RBI.
