michael chandler mocked Conor McGregor after the latter explained his training plans to his UFC fight, which was postponed indefinitely in June.

It was first announced in February 2023 that McGregor and Chandler would face each other in the Octagon, but the fight date was only revealed in April of this year. The Irishman and the American were supposed to face each other in Las Vegas in June, but the fight was postponed two weeks in advance.

The news comes as McGregor, 36, revealed a broken toe, which is now fully healed.

In a series of tweets on Monday (August 5), McGregor criticized former US President Donald Trump for naming Khabib Nurmagomedov as his favorite UFC fighter. Chandler chimed in, prompting McGregor to open up about his training plans.

“I’m looking forward to December!” wrote McGregor. “It would be a big bear [Lake in California] originally for my camp, but now it will be in Colorado Springs! Best facilities. Where US Olympians train!”

McGregor deleted the tweet, but not before Chandler, 38, responded: “Forget it guys… I think it’s time to finally admit the fight is over.

“He is still in stage 2 of 7 grief related to the end of his career. I figured he would be close to 5 by now. Good luck @NotoriousMMA.” In fact, Chandler was apparently referring to the denial phase.

McGregor, a former two-weight champion, has not fought since breaking his leg in July 2021, when he suffered his second consecutive defeat to Dustin Poirier. He last scored a UFC victory in January 2020 when he defeated Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds.

Chandler, a former three-time Bellator champion, last fought in November 2022, losing to Poirier via submission.
