UFC bantamweight champion [autotag]Sean O’Malley[/autotag] think the best way to irritate [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] would be to win [autotag]Umar Nurmagomedov[/autotag].
It’s no secret how McGregor feels about the Nurmagomedov family. McGregor was submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the 2018 title fight in which a fight broke out immediately after. The rivals never buried the hatchet and McGregor continues to insult Nurmagomedov and his team, although “The Eagle” has been retired since 2020.
O’Malley (18-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) admires McGregor, but things took a strange turn after McGregor shot him for testing positive for ostarine in 2019. O’Malley believes McGregor is jealous of his rise to the stardom, and he sees no better way to fight back against the UFC’s biggest star than to defeat Umar, (18-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), who has just emerged as the No. 1 contender after defeating Cory Sandhagen on Saturday at UFC on ABC7.
“Me vs. Umar next? Question mark, hash tag, ‘We’ll see,’ haha,” O’Malley said in his Youtube channel. “Figgy (Figueiredo) called me, Ilia and Max are going to fight soon, undefeated Umar 18-0 vs. undefeated ‘Suga show 19-0, beat a Dagestani. way to get to Conor Oh, imagine how jealous he would be?
O’Malley defends his title against Merab Dvalishvili in the main fight of UFC 306, September 14, at Sphere, in Las Vegas. He was impressed by Nurmagomedov and Sandhagen after they fought for five rounds in Abu Dhabi.
“Umar did the job, a very close fight in my opinion,” O’Malley said. “It looked like he won, but again, it was a very close fight. Cory is, in my opinion, one of the best guys in the world, pound for pound. of guys wouldn’t fight him, so I’m not surprised he hasn’t had that many high-level fights so far.
“Nobody in the UFC wanted to fight this guy. Incredible performance from both guys, actually. Cory did a really good job interrupting Umar’s offensive takedowns and wrestling. The striking was very close. Umar seemed to have landed stronger shots. In the Overall, this is as high a level of fighting as possible.”
