[autotag]Paddy Pimblett[/autotag] plans to give the UFC lightweight champion [autotag]Islam Makhachev[/autotag] something to get excited about.

Undefeated in the Octagon, Pimblett (22-3 MMA, 6-0 UFC) entered the top 15 of the lightweight rankings after a quick submission win over King Green at UFC 304 in July.

While Pimblett is likely a few fights away from entering title contention, Makhachev (25-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC) was asked about the popular Brit during a recent UFC Abu Dhabi Q&A.

“When he deserves it, why not?” Makhachev said. “If he wins the next fights, when is he going to be in the top 10, why not? Because I don’t have exciting fights in my category.

“I see how he submitted King. It was a good performance, and now is the time for him to have good opponents, when he is at the top. Now he has to train more. Now it’s all the guys who are very dangerous.”

Makhachev found it difficult to prepare for a rematch with No. 1 contender Arman Tsarukyan since he already defeated him in April 2019. Makhachev was eager to move up to welterweight to pursue two-time champion status, but his plans were put on hold. practice. hold after his friend Belal Muhammad won the title.

Pimblett reacted to Makhachev’s praise and plans to see him in the near future.
