After all, Conor McGregor says he wants to fight in 2024.
Minutes after UFC CEO Dana White said Tuesday that McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) won’t fight until at least 2025, the outspoken Irish star publicly expressed an alternative opinion on X.
“Ah Dana, December is the date!” McGregor wrote. “Bring the year home with a winning event! Come on, what is this? I’m going to altitude next month to prepare. DECEMBER! Tell Dana and the UFC WE WANT DECEMBER! WE DESERVE DECEMBER!”

McGregor has not competed since July 2021, when he broke his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier, although he has been lined up with Michael Chandler for a showdown since early 2023. The two were scheduled to fight on June 29 at UFC 303but McGregor Withdrew due to a toe injury.
Since his withdrawal, McGregor has expressed a desire to return. It’s unclear whether the injury or something else is the current reason for the delayed return.
Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC), who has largely remained wedded to the prospect of the McGregor fight regardless of how long it takes, recently admitted he is considering another fight. He has not competed since his November 2022 loss to Dustin Poirier.
