British boxing champion savannah marshallL’s opponent for her MMA debut has been revealed – and it’s someone on her level.
The PFL announced on Monday that Marshall will face Brazil Mirela Vargas at the 2024 PFL Europe 2. The event, which will be headlined by Marshall’s debut, is scheduled for June 8 at the Utilita Arena in New Castle, England.
Vargas, 26, is 1-2 as a professional fighter. She won her professional debut in 2021 by a 12-second knockout, but only competed again in 2023, losing by submission in both Iron Man MMA fights.
Marshall, 32, is the IBF, WBA, WBO and The Ring women’s super middleweight champion with a professional boxing record of 13-1. Her only career loss was against fellow PFL fighter Claressa Shields. She most recently competed in July 2023, when she won a majority decision against Franchon Crews Dezurn. Now Marshall is looking to stand out in the world of MMA.
