A former UFC contender has been sentenced to two years in prison for domestic violence.
Sean Loeffler signed with the UFC in 2012 and arrived on fight night for his promotional debut against Buddy Roberts. But an accidental injury meant he never walked to the cage and never returned.
Tuesday, Loeffler was sentenced to two years in prison in San Diego after accepting a deal and pleading guilty to multiple charges related to domestic violence against multiple victims, according to TV ABC-10 in San Diego.
One of the women who read victim impact statements in court, according to ABC-10, said she met Loeffler at Compound MMA & Fitness in Oceanside, California. That site still lists Loeffler, who had been CEO of the organization.
At UFC on FUEL TV 1, Loeffler was injured during warm-ups. The commission in Nebraska ruled him out, and it took him 28 months to fight again. Suffice it to say, he never returned to the UFC.
Loeffler, 41, whose nickname was “The Destroyer”, got his biggest break in 2010 with Bellator, but was knocked out by Bryan Baker. He has never lost again in a period of more than nine years, but has not fought since March 2020.
