JOSE ALDO is officially unemployed after his contract with the UFC ended.
The former longtime men’s featherweight champion surprised fight fans earlier this year by agreeing to come out of retirement to face Jonathan Martinez at UFC 301 in Brazil.
Aldo, 37 years old, went back in time and gave a vintage performance last Sunday for Photograph the bantamweight prospect’s six-fight winning streak.
The victory in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro put Aldo back in title contention.
But a shocking shot at 135 pounds of gold is currently off the table as he is no longer signed to MMA’s top promotion.
The Brazilian said: “Right at the beginning when I asked for this fight, they talked about (fighting for the title).
“And I said, ‘No, calm down. Let’s fight first, let me fight first.
“’First you have to see. Let’s not rush things.
“’So let’s take it slow, let’s get there, let’s fight and let’s put on a performance, and then you’ll know what I’m like.’
“So that’s what I tried to do. I wanted to fight here first.

“Now I can sit down with Dana (White) and see what the best path we can take is.”
Aldo has plans to talk to UFC supremo White to try to reach a new deal, although he doesn’t rule out a possible return to the boxing ring.
When asked about the potential boxing of Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao, the fan favorite said: “Yes, it could be.
“I received offers. I was offered a contract, but I said no. I’m in the UFC (still), so I need to fight, to see how I’m doing.
“That was a big window that opened for me.
“My life has always been here (in the UFC), so I have to sit down with them and see what is the best path I can take.”
