In the footage, his teammate – who is not named – defends a leg kick but leaves his opponent in a lot of pain.

He falls with his weight on his leg and it breaks horribly in front of the shocked crowd.

But Shaughnessy’s training partner – who successfully defended the attack on the leg – celebrated his opponent’s injury.

This left fans furious as one of them said: “Teasing after this is shit.”

Another added: “Poor guy.”

One fumed: “Terrible sportsmanship provoking the guy after that.”

Shaughnessy defended his gym partner, who was making his MMA debut, and revealed that he later apologized.

He said: Yeah, I mean, he checked the kick and did the damage, but it was his debut in MMA like I said, and for the title of a super fight.

“A lot of emotions building up, it’s hard to keep it all under control, and he apologized afterwards.”

Conor McGregor suffered a similar injury in his last fight – against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 – breaking his tibia and fibula.

He underwent successful leg surgery and after three years away returns at UFC 303, on June 29, against Michael Chandler, 37.
