Darren even insists on returning to the UFC.
Till (18-5-1 MMA, 6-5-1 UFC) has requested his release from the UFC in March 2023. He will make his professional boxing debut against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.) in a six-round, 190-pound bout at July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event, headlined by Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, is broadcast live on Netflix.
Although his current focus is boxing, the former UFC title challenger still intends to compete in the Octagon again.
“Yeah, this isn’t over for me,” Till said on “MMA time.” “I’m going to win a UFC title. I know who I am. I talk to UFC bosses all the time. They just invited me to go to Manchester (UFC 304). … I’m going to come into this boxing scene in the middle of a storm, and then I’m going to come back to the UFC and win the title, and then I’m going to say, ‘Okay, I did it. I was one of the best. See you later, bye, bye.
“You might say I won’t, but my only goal now is to make a lot of money by beating up some guys, which I know I will do 100 percent. I don’t think any of these guys will be able to handle me, I really don’t.”
Till is 1-5 in his last six UFC fights, with his most recent submission loss to current middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282. Till looked fluid on the feet until fight changes slowed him down.
“Dricus is beating everyone, and I beat him for two rounds before he stopped me,” Till said. “That irritates me a little. I know I could beat the champion. People, when they see Dricus now, it’s like, ‘Wow, we thought Till was done. Did he really finish because he won the champion?’”
