Mateusz Gamrot is irritated with Carlos Oliveirarecent behavior.

Oliveira (34-10 MMA, 22-10 UFC), a former UFC lightweight champion, is apparently leaving his options open after his defeat at UFC 300 to Arman Tsarukyan last month, but didn’t pay much attention to repeated calls from Gamrot (24-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC).

Instead, Oliveira offered to be the backup fighter for Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29, as well as teasing a move to welterweight for accept a challenge by Colby Covington.

What doesn’t seem to interest Oliveira much is the confrontation with Gamrot, who has won seven of his last eight fights against names like Tsarukyan, Rafael Fiziev and Rafael dos Anjos. And this is irritating the Polish fighter (via X):

I asked to fight Oliveira, but he called Colby. Guy who only fights once a year and is 2-3 since 2019.

We thought you were better than that, @CharlesDoBronxs. You know I’ll burn you to the ground… but maybe that’s why you’d rather fight Colby…

Gamrot, #6 in latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie light ratings, has been taking the long road to the top of the division. His hard-fighting style has probably cost him dearly in the eyes of fans and UFC bosses, but he’s not shy about taking on the biggest challenges.

Oliveira, ranked third in the rankings, has the most submissions and submission wins in UFC history and, on paper, would certainly be a stern test for Gamrot’s style.
