At UFC 302, could “Diamond” be covered in flowers?

Account X Championship rounds got us thinking after sharing a photo on Tuesday that was intended to have a special floral design Dustin Poirier shorts posted to the Venum UK website ahead of Saturday night’s pay-per-view event (ESPN+) headlined by Poirier’s lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev.

You can see the colorful shorts below:

The UFC has traditionally avoided allowing fighters to wear anything other than basic-color shorts manufactured by Venum, although an exception was recently made. At UFC 300 in April, bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley wore specially made hot pink shorts, while Max Holloway was allowed to wear his own Hawaiian-themed floral shorts.

Perhaps the UFC is making another exception for one of the good guys on its roster, Poirier.

Given away what Holloway did with Justin Gaethje as an underdog at UFC 300, let’s just say if Poirier can overcome Makhachev to finally win an undisputed title wearing those shorts, there’s definitely some floral magic going on.
