A SHOCK replacement has been announced for Conor McGregor if he is unable to fight Michael Chandler.
The former two-weight world champion is set to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon against the fan favorite on June 29 in the main event of UFC 303 in Las Vegas.
But his recent antics and the short-term cancellation of a press conference in Dublin this week have fans fearing that Mac’s return could be delayed.
One of the conspiracy theories – all of which have absolutely no basis – circulating is that McGregor could potentially be dealing with an injury.
And if The Notorious is indeed injured, former three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen believes Chandler should face BMF title holder Max Holloway.
During the last episode of Good Guy/Bad Guyhe said: “There will be no postponement of this fight.
“Either they fight on the 29th or we move on. Oh, and by the way, the show is still going on.
“I believe Conor will star opposite Michael Chandler, I’m very confident in saying that.
“However, if he is not, michael chandler against Max Holloway for BMF is the fight to be scheduled.
Former longtime featherweight champion Holloway, 32, won the BMF title in April with a stunning last-second knockout of Justin Gaethje.

McGregor, 35, has yet to pull out of the fight due to injury and has fought while committed.
The Irish tore his anterior cruciate ligament before his interim featherweight title fight with Chad Mendes at UFC 189 in July 2015.
He also detached a toe on his left foot in preparation for his UFC 229 grudge match with Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.
And given McGregor’s history After fighting through the pain, Sonnen believes there is no way he can leave the cage with a minor injury.
He said: “A man will live his life by a code, and that code may not be in line with standard social policies or even laws, but he will adhere to that code at all costs.
“One of Conor’s codes is that the show must go on!
“When he broke down half of his last fight and Joe said, ‘I don’t interview injured guys, we need to put you on a stretcher.’
“Conor called him and pulled him to the mat. Joe sat down to do that interview, why?
“Because we still need to go dark and roll the credits, and the show must go on.
“I happened to be with Conor McGregor when José Aldo dropped out and Chad Mendes got stuck.
“We’re on the ESPN campus doing some media.
“I was there when Conor answered the call and I couldn’t have cared less about the change in opponent because the show must go on!
“I just don’t believe that with a month’s notice – be it illness, injury or any other excuse – Conor will be the one pulling.
“It would change the code that he must, as a human being, fiercely adhere to.”
