Dana White makes first statement amid Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler chaos at UFC 303 to announce big fight

DANA WHITE has broken his silence amid the chaos surrounding Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC.

The promotion’s poster boy is expected to return to the Octagon later this month in the main fight of UFC 303, in Las Vegas, where he will face Michael Chandler.

But the short-notice cancellation of a press conference in Dublin on Monday raised fears that Return of the Mac had been cancelled.

UFC bosses have remained tight-lipped on the matter, although it has been sensationally claimed that they have put out “feelers” for a potential new fight to headline the card.

MMA fans around the world are anxiously awaiting White to issue a statement providing clarity on the fight.

And they thought they had it made when the UFC CEO and president released a video announcement on his social media pages.

The announcement, however, was bittersweet, as White did not provide any updates on McGregor and instead revealed that former strawweight queen Rose Namajunas will return to action on July 13 to face Maycee Barber.

He said, “Hey guys, we’re heading back to Denver for the first time since 2018.

“July 13th at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, the main event: Maycee Barber vs. Rose Namajunas.

“Maycee is on a six-fight winning streak and wants to get into the flyweight title discussion.

“She has the third-longest winning streak in the division, the second-most knockouts and is tied for the third-longest winning streak at flyweight. history.

“And she’s facing former champion Rose Namajunas. She’s one of the baddest women to ever do it.

“She literally fought everyone. She beat Joanna [Jedrzeczyk[, [Jessica] Andrade and current strawweight champion Weili Zhang.

“This is an important fight for flyweight.”

Fans who clicked on the video hoping for an update on McGregor vs. Chandler quickly chimed in, with one saying, “Dana, tell us.”

Another said: “You must be trolling.”

And another said: Give us an official update on UFC 303.”

One commented: “We don’t care about Denver. Give us News about 303.”

McGregor, 35, has not stepped into the Octagon since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier three years ago.
