Alexandre PereiraPaulo’s post-fight celebration at UFC 300 is not pleasing Jamahal Hill.
UFC light heavyweight champion Pereira (10-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) knocked out Hill in the first round to retain the title in April. “Poatan” performed a “Khaby Lame” celebration as he passed Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC), which angered the former champion.
Almost two months later, Hill began Instagram to address the abrupt fight-ending sequence in which referee Herb Dean attempted to pause the action after Hill hit Pereira with an inadvertent low blow. Pereira dismissed Dean and knocked out Hill soon after.
“Now I haven’t really talked about this, but I went to Brazil and DOGG TOOK his guy in one of the most one-sided fights in league history and then showed nothing but respect and paid tribute!! I have never celebrated an opponent I beat and I even yelled at my fans for disrespecting Johnny Walker after I slept with him!! But because I showed competitive fire and was excited to be back after a potentially career-ending injury, do you think that was funny or cool!! @alexpoatanpereira you really threw a punch I couldn’t have thrown without a weird confusing moment and did some weak shit but that’s okay because you’re going to fight me again and my eyes won’t leave you until you’re as tight as Izzy made you in Miami!!!”
Pereira is currently focused on another rematch he envisions next, hoping to get back at Jiri Prochazka, who he knocked out to win the vacant 205-pound title at UFC 295.
As for Hill, “Sweet Dreams” will look to bounce back when he faces contender Carlos Ulberg on June 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
