Leon Edwards is inclined towards Michael’s page beating Ian Machado Garry.
Rising welterweight contenders Garry (14-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and Page (22-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) face off on June 29 at UFC 303 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
UFC welterweight champion Edwards may consider the fight between the two elite strikers lackluster, but he thinks the “MVP” gets the job done.
“I feel like it’s one of those fights where both guys are going to play range and they’re not committing, waiting to punch each other,” Edwards said. Celestial sports. “If I had to put money on it, I’d probably go with ‘MVP.’ It will be a good fight. I’m interested to see how this plays out.”
Edwards (21-3 MMA, 13-2 UFC) defends his welterweight title in a rematch against Belal Muhammad (23-3 MMA, 14-3 UFC), who will headline UFC 304 on July 27 at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
Garry and Edwards are not on the champion’s radar, but he foresees future clashes with them in the future.
“If they both keep winning, 100 percent,” Edwards said. “For me, I just look at number 1 and number 2. I think after that, it’s just a lot… like, a lot of stuff coming in. After defeating Belal, this is how I see things. I still don’t look at number 10, 11 or 9. Until they start getting to number 5, I’ll be like, ‘OK, who is that?’ Then I’ll start looking.”
