MELISSA BALIC is the Instagram and MMA sensation who turned down WWE to focus on her fighting career.
Balic was a kickboxing champion before moving on to MMA, where she signed a contract with the Professional Fighters League.
She signed with the PFL with the goal of entering the $1 million winner-take-all season.
But Balic – who has almost 100,000 followers on Insta – turned down approaches from WWE and legendary spokesman Paul Heyman.
“I love Paul,” she said Bloody Elbow.
“Whenever I need advice, I go to Paul because he is a very intelligent man in the area of wrestling and fights too, obviously.
“We got in touch and I always went to him if I needed any advice.
“His area of expertise is the ‘presenting like a superstar’ factor.
“He is very good at managing fighters and knows how to cut a good promo.
“He is the best in the game and a very intelligent man. I’ve known him for a few years.”
Balic, 26, hasn’t closed the door on a change in WWE one day, but insisted the focus is on the cage for now.
She said: “I did some tests. But I just think that for now, fighting is the right path for me, but maybe one day.”
Balic was scheduled to face Kristina Katsikis on Thursday night at Mohegan Sun, but an injury forced her out.
