Jon Jones shot his former rival Dominick Reis.
On Tuesday, the UFC heavyweight champion took to X to respond to Reyes’ recent comments claiming he had defeated Jones in the light heavyweight title fight at UFC 247 in 2020. unanimous decision victory for Jones, many online criticized the scoring of the fight and made Reyes win. Reyes also believes he did the job and expressed his opinion on the matter once again in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani.
“What a claim to fame, I almost beat John Jones,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I got full of myself and literally couldn’t win another fight.”
After losing to Jones in 2020, Reyes was stopped three consecutive times. Reyes got back into the win column last Saturday, eliminating Dustin Jacoby at UFC on ESPN 57.
Jones claims he didn’t watch the fight, but his advice remains valid.
“Dominic, when you look at our fight, I don’t want you to ever question me or the judges,” Jones wrote. “Look at your own heart, at your resistance, you haven’t done enough. The sooner you accept this, the better athlete you will become.”

The victory over Reyes was Jones’ final fight and light heavyweight title defense. Shortly after the fight, Jones vacated the title and took a three-year hiatus from the sport. He returned in March 2023, defeating Ciryl Gane for the vacant UFC heavyweight title.
Jones is returning to training after recovering from surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. He is expected to return in November to make his first heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miocic.
