Conor McGregor’s fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 has been cancelled.

The 35-year-old Irishman was scheduled to fight for the first time since breaking his leg during defeat to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

UFC president Dana White said on X that the welterweight fight was canceled because of McGregor’s injury.

It is the first time that the former two-weight world champion has been forced to withdraw from a UFC fight due to injury.

The original co-main event between light heavyweights Jamahal Hill and Carlos Ulberg was also canceled due to Hill’s knee injury.

White announced two additional fights, with Brazilian light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira defending his title against Czech Jiri Prochazka in the new main event.

The featherweight fight between American Brian Ortega and Brazilian Diego Lopes is the new co-main event.

Fight week in Las Vegas is traditionally the biggest event on the UFC calendar.

The McGregor-Chandler fight was announced on May 24th and tickets sold out in less than 10 minutes.

The UFC “postponed” a press conference in Dublin this month, although American Chandler, 36, continued training and the UFC’s broadcast partners continued to publicize the fight.

The highly anticipated welterweight fight between Ireland’s Ian Garry and Britain’s Michael ‘Venom’ Page remains on the card.
