Ian Machado Garry resolved with Michael’s page as UFC 303 opponent.

Garry (14-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) had aspirations of facing Colby Covington next, but ended up drawing Page (22-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a welterweight bout on June 29 at T -Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. , which airs on pay-per-view after the prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

“MVP” is seven places below Garry in the UFC welterweight rankings.

“I wasn’t even remotely interested in that fight, I’m not going to lie,” Garry said in an interview with Lucky Block. “I was looking for an opponent in the top five, but there was no one above me to fight. So now I had no choice if I wanted to fight.

“But looking down and thinking, ‘Who’s the biggest name? What’s the biggest test UFC fans want me to face?’ – everyone was saying Michael Page, so this is the guy to make it happen. But I wasn’t even remotely interested in fighting him.”

Garry wants to prove that he is far superior to Page in all facets of MMA. He recently pushed for the fight to be a five-round co-main event.

“I believe I’m above him in every way, shape, and form, and this is just an opportunity to show that, to prove that to people,” Garry said. “I can say, ‘Do you think this guy is good?’ OK, let’s see when he shows up on June 29th in Las Vegas. Let’s see when we’re in that octagon, I’ll use him as an example.”
