Belal Muhammad is confident that he stops Leon Edwards at UFC 304.
Muhammad (23-3 MMA, 14-3 UFC) rematches welterweight champion Edwards (21-3 MMA, 13-2 UFC) in the July 27 main event at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
Muhammad had to go on a 10-fight unbeaten streak to finally earn his UFC title shot. After defeating several experts during his run, Muhammad feels prepared to put in an excellent performance against Edwards.
“Honestly, I think I’ll go out there and knock him out,” Muhammad said in a tone of voice. interview with Sneako. “When I look at my last stylistic fights, I faced the best striker in the UFC, (Stephen) ‘Wonderboy’ (Thompson). I fought with the best grappler in the UFC, Demian Maia.
“I fought great finishers in Vicente Luque. I fought Gilbert Burns three weeks in advance. I think all of these struggles added up to this fight – like I said, God’s plan. … All those things, they just leveled me up.”
Muhammad sees himself having a similar performance to the one he had at UFC 280, where he submitted Sean Brady via TKO and handed him his first career loss.
“I think I’m the best version of myself now,” Muhammad said. “And I think Leon will go in there, he and his team there in Manchester, they will be surprised. They are in for a rude awakening.
“People will say what they want, but in my last full training camp I knocked out Sean Brady. The Gilbert Burns fight was a three-week fight. So if we’re going to come out of my last full camp, it was a knockout. In this fight I will knock out Leon Edwards. We’ve been training for this guy for two years.”
