When former UFC title challenger Megan Anderson was asked this week if michael chandler should keep waiting for a fight with Conor McGregorshe expressed nothing but frustration with the situation.
“I would be very upset if I were Michael Chandler right now,” Anderson, who works as an analyst for ESPN, said in a statement. TV segment. “I would be upset, but he is also guilty. He spent two years on the shelf waiting for this fight. He could have said, ‘Hey, whenever Conor decides he’s ready, we’ll match, and I’ll do some fights in between to stay active.’ He could have gone that route, but he chose not to. He chose to wait and see where that left him.
“He may never fight Conor McGregor again, and he has just put himself on the shelf, outside the cage for two years. That’s two years of his prime that he’s missing. That’s two years of money he’s losing and he has a family he needs to support.”
In fact, Chandler has been exceptionally patient as he waits for the biggest fight of his career to come to fruition. Chandler is being put to the ultimate test after McGregor revealed on Friday that a broken finger caused his sudden withdrawal from the main event of UFC 303, scheduled for June 29.
So why would Chandler continue to stand around waiting for McGregor? “The Notorious” shed some light on Friday with pair of X posts in response to critics of Chandler’s decision to remain on the shelf.
Chandler is being paid 10 times what his contract stipulates for other fights. Which means he would need to fight 10 fights to achieve what he did in this one. I am the chosen one.

For those who say he could have fought 2 or 3 times, etc. He would need 10 to break even with this check.

If true, a payday 10 times Chandler’s normal rate would certainly explain the show of patience up to this point. The only question that remains is whether McGregor will still fight Chandler after McGregor said he hopes to fight for his UFC contract – against “Chandler or not.”
All this does is make it clear that Chandler’s patience will continue to be sorely tested.
