The co-main event in Saudi Arabia features a heavyweight clash between Russian powers, Sergei Pavlovich It is Alexander Volkov.
Between their imposing statures and the fact that these two used to be fast friends, this fight has a similar setup to Kane vs. Kane. Undertaker who looks like he came straight out of WWE’s “Attitude Era”.
In MMA, however, dramatic encounters between former training partners tend, unfortunately, to result in lackluster affairs. For that reason, no one should be shocked if we get stuck in an attempted staring contest this Saturday.
While Pavlovich is more than powerful enough to end anyone’s night early, Volkov has traditionally fared well against big punchers not named Derrick Lewis.
Add in the fact that most of Volkov’s problematic moments come from his opponent’s counterattacks (something that feels vague in Pavlovich’s game), and I can’t help but take a look at the underdog in this situation.
The choice is Volkov by decision.
