CONOR McGREGOR was forced to pull out of UFC 303 after suffering a toe injury – but it wasn’t his first rodeo.
McGregor was supposed to return on June 29 after three years away to face Michael Chandler.
But for the first time in his UFC career, the Irishman withdrew after breaking his toe just weeks before the fight.
McGregor released photos of his severely swollen foot and insisted he would not fight while injured.
The former UFC two-weight champion had a reputation for struggling with injuries during his career.
He infamously claimed his foot was swollen to the size of a “balloon” when he faced arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.
And behind-the-scenes footage from his Netflix docu-series revealed the exact moment he suffered the toe injury.
Surprisingly, he had his doctor dislocate his injured finger before painfully resetting it.
McGregor lost via fourth-round submission to Nurmagomedov and later said his performance was hampered by injury.
He hasn’t fought since July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier, 35.

McGregor, 35, spoke for the first time about his injury after attending Bellator Dublin to explain his decision to withdraw.
He said: “I’m still here rocking.
“I had a little loss of concentration, so I had to reschedule the belt, so I’m a little upset about that.
“But it’s keeping me connected. It’s keeping me focused. The work isn’t done.
“So that’s not bad for someone like me. I’m moving forward to the new date and taking away the lessons learned.
“If I were any of those bums who can’t move, who don’t work their feet, who don’t trust their abilities, then I’d be fine.
“And I’ve done it before. I’ve done the hike countless times under these circumstances and I’ve given these bums an advantage over me that they don’t even deserve.
“So now I’m calling, I’m getting this training camp right, I’m going in there 100 percent Conor McGregor, injury free.
“Perfection is on my menu and that’s it.”
