Ian Machado Garry It is Michael’s page had a rollercoaster of respect levels displayed during construction for their UFC 303 clash Saturday.

Initially complimentary, things turned a little more toward trash talk on Wednesday’s media day. Thursday, things went to another level at the pre-fight press conference when Garry (14-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) accused Page (22-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) of trying to acquire training information in exchange for money.

“I’ve already lowered this man’s confidence a lot,” Garry said. “He knows. I don’t need to tell you what I’m talking about. You know exactly what I’m talking about. Your self-confidence is fucked. You know what I’m talking about. It’ll come out. It’ll come out, kid, but your brain is screaming for excuses.”

Page smiled and took the microphone, but before a complete sentence was spoken, Garry verbally challenged him further.

“You and your team offered thousands of dollars to get information from my boys at Chute Boxe?” Garry said. “You sent a message to someone and offered thousands of information. And you couldn’t infiltrate the camp. You couldn’t get into that. The Chute Boxe family is very united. Your little jiu-jitsu trainer rat offered money to one of my Brazilian friends and you got nothing. Saturday night, you’re fucked.

Page did not deny the allegations and did not actually acknowledge them, although he did smile as Garry spoke. Garry said Page and his trainer would be suspended.

“All I know is you’re suspended after this fight,” Garry said. “You will never fight again after this fight. You and your jiu-jitsu coach will be suspended for life.”

Page responded, “Shut up.”

The Nevada Athletic Commission’s (NAC) unarmed combat statutes do not appear to specifically reference spying on training camps as a violation, so it remains unclear whether he was making a reference to a medical suspension, a disciplinary suspension, or whatever. another thing.

Regardless of what Garry was talking about, a behind-the-scenes video of the two wrestlers showed very different behavior than that on stage. Garry and Page shared a sweet moment with Garry’s youngest son, in a moment captured by ESPN, the UFC’s broadcast partner.
