LAS VEGAS – Macy Chiasson is impressed with what her UFC 303 opponent, Mayra Bueno Silva, brings to the Octagon early in her fights, but believes there is something missing from her complete game.

Chiasson (9-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC), winner of the 28th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” thinks she realizes that Bueno Silva (10-3-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) shows some holes in her mental state game when she fought Raquel Pennington for the vacant bantamweight title at UFC 297 in January.

While praising Bueno Silva’s approach at the start of the fight, Chiasson questioned what happened during the fight, looking at what could happen when they meet inside the cage on the UFC 303 main card at T-Mobile Arena.

“Just like I’ve been following all of her fights, her first round, the first few rounds, are really exciting,” Chiasson told reporters at UFC 303 Media Day. “I mean, she’s kind of crazy, she sets a rhythm and goes after it exactly. of what you are looking for. But I really saw what I think has a lot to do with her mindset. I don’t think she has the right mindset right now.

“I think she’s a bit of a mess. This appeared in the fourth and fifth round of the fight. Like, you’re in a title fight and you’re lying on your back. I heard some things she said that ruptured the eardrum – understandable. Injuries, you have to mitigate and do what you can in the fight, but I think in the title fight you have to bring the heat.

Chiasson will look for back-to-back wins with a win at UFC 303. If successful, she knows her name will be on the list of contenders for a title opportunity.

“I know I can hang out with these girls,” Chiasson said. “I have the ability and the ability to go in there and eliminate anyone in front of me. It’s just connecting the mind and body.

“…I talked to Mick (Maynard) a lot about the potential for a title situation. But I’m trying not to get ahead of myself, because the main thing I’m really focused on is just being in the moment and not thinking about results.”
