Silva (10-3-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) returns for the first time since losing his shot at the vacant bantamweight title. Silva lost a unanimous decision to Raquel Pennington at UFC 297, snapping a three-fight winning streak, not including a submission over Holly Holm, which was later reversed to a no contest. … Chiasson (10-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) also enters her second fight of the year, following a first-round submission over Pannie Kianzad in March. Winner of the 28th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Chiasson will look to notch back-to-back wins for the first time since defeating Shanna Young in 2020 and Marion Reneau a year later.

Filling out the main card is a women’s flyweight affair between Silva and Chiasson.
Considering his unfortunate luck with fight cancellations, it’s good to see Chiasson remain more active, making a relatively quick turnaround here.
Chiasson also seemed to manage the weight cut better last time, which is a great sign for his future potential in this division. That said, I’m still not sure if her size translates into staying power once the sparks start to fly.
Silva’s stock may be low following her disappointing bantamweight title run earlier this year, but the Brazilian fighter apparently suffered an injury late in the first round (which could help explain a few things).
While I can still see a reality where the Fortis MMA product can use his size and skills to crush Silva against the cage regardless of his health, I suspect Silva’s front choke skill could serve as a solid counter-grappling tool in this fight.
Add in the fact that Silva’s body and leg kicks should be especially sharp against Chiasson, and I can’t help but support the former title challenger finishing the American in the second round.

Despite oddsmakers opening the Brazilian as a big favorite, public money pushed this fight to a pick’em, listing Silva at -113 and Chiasson -113 via FanDuel.
