Three years after his last fight, Nick Diaz has a UFC fight scheduled, and his brother Nate Diaz is excited to see your favorite fighter back in action.

Nick is scheduled to return to the UFC Octagon on August 3 for a welterweight co-main bout against Vicente Luque at UFC on ABC 7 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Seeing his brother fly around the world looking for a fight was something that tickled his little brother, Nate.

“He’s going to fucking Saudi Arabia,” Diaz told MMA Junkie with a laugh. “Fuck, huh?”

It has been a long time since the Diaz brothers were active fighters together.

Nate, who has performed regularly over the years, is scheduled to compete in a boxing match against Jorge Masvidal on Saturday in Anaheim, California, in a rematch of the inaugural BMF title fight at UFC 244. The younger brother has competed since Nick was away.

The one-year-old last saw action at UFC 266 in September 2021, in a TKO loss in a middleweight bout against former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler. It was Nick’s first fight since 2015 and the fourth consecutive appearance in which he failed to win.

With some time away from fighting, Nate expects his brother to return in style against Luque, who has also struggled to produce positive results lately, losing three of the last four.

“Luque is a fighter, he will come to fight,” said Diaz. “And you guys know Nick, so there’s that. You will have some animals there. I don’t think there’s anyone better than Nick, so we’ll see what happens.”

The brothers have been working in separate camps in preparation for the fights. With Nate focused exclusively on the sweet science of boxing at home in California, Nick has been mixing in the martial arts in Texas. However, according to Nate, the plan is to get together after this weekend’s fight to finalize training and the game plan for his brother’s big return to the Octagon.
